Twister

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hour and 53 minutes
Release date: May 10, 1996
Director: Jan De Bont
Starring: Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton

Since storm season is approaching, I'd thought that I'd review this mid to late 90's blockbuster, which is about a team of storm chasers that develop a machine called "Dorothy", that is designed to help them study tornadoes. For a film from the 1990's, the special effects are really good, and it's a really intense film. Parents, I don't think you wanna show your kids this film because, not only it's intense but, there is a really good amount of foul language. And, there is this dinner table scene which I think should've been cut from the film. And there's also a scene, where a tornado rips through a drive in theater, and because of that, I guarantee you that your kids might be afraid of going to a drive-in movie. Especially on a cloudy night, let alone a stormy night for that matter. And the movie that the filmmakers chose for that was the 1980 R-rated Stanley Kubrick horror movie "The Shining" So, I don't think you would wanna show your kids, especially your young kids this film.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hour 47 minutes
Release Date: June 15, 1990
Director: Joe Dante
Starring: Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates

In this sequel to the 1984 film Gremlins, Billy (Galligan) and Kate (Cates), move to the big apple, get jobs in a high tech office park, and reunite with their loveable furry friend Gizmo. But, when accidents occur, a whole new generation of Gremlins are born. So it is up to Billy and Kate, to come up with a plan to destroy them all!

I think this film is weirder than the first one. Although it is watchable, but Parents, I'd click here to go to the Parents Guide on IMDB,  before showing this film to your kids.
